Your granddad worked conservation corp during that time. They built highway 45 during that time. Many of the young men of Tibbee worked in the Corp and later went into the military during the war. He entered in 1942, the year I was born, as a Buck Private. A lot of similarity to his family. Daddy, uncle Charlie, uncle Jack, uncle Butch’s son all served during this time. They weren’t Buffalo Soldiers though.
